Book Tour: ‘Donations to Clarity’

Donations to Clarity

by Noah Baird

Second Wind Publishing

Publication Date:  July 4, 2011

With possibly the most irreverent book of the year, Noah Baird delivers a non-stop dose of laughter inducing stupidity in Donations to Clarity.  It is, at first, difficult to figure out what exactly is happening in Donations, between the antics of three backwoods friends (Harry, Earl, and Patch), and the inner thoughts of Bigfoot.  It soon becomes clear that following this story is not the point, but rather realizing that it could actually happen (excluding Bigfoot, of course).

If you have ever wondered what would happen if you tried to hoax Bigfoot into believing there is a She-Bigfoot, the answer lies within.  Baird gives us a glimpse inside the mind of the hoaxers, as well as the legend of Bigfoot himself- whether we want to know everything or not.  What is uncovered is a series of government cover-ups, everyone seeking their version of the truth, and a lonely, broken-hearted urban legend.  Just when one thinks things can’t get any crazier, they, of course do.

With many sidebars, such as one of the characters attempting to achieve human buoyancy by figuring out the exact amount of food one can consume without ever having to defecate again, there is more going on than the hoaxing of Bigfoot.  Donations should be categorized with the likes of The Big Lebowski and Escanaba in Da Moonlight for its far-reaching, non-linear line of thought.  While not for everyone, Donations to Clarity may make perfect sense to those looking to become an urban legend themselves.
