30 Second Reviews: Halestorm, Elephant Micah, Clairy Browne

Hello, It’s Mz. Hyde- EP

Halestorm

Atlantic Records

January 24, 2012

Halestorm has delivered once again, with an EP of hard-hitting songs that showcase their talent perfectly.  Lizzie Hale is in the house, and she is taking names and kicking major ass.  But, please, Mz. Hale, give us another full-length already.

Louder Than Thou- EP

Elephant Micah

Product of Palmyra

January 31, 2012

This easy, simplistic effort from Bloomington, Indiana musician Joseph O’Connell is one that should not be overlooked.  There are a couple songs that do not fit cohesively with the rest of the album, but when he gets it right- he gets is very right.  This is an album that will resonate with any mid-westerner who has ever felt a little bit lonely through the long winter.

 Baby Caught the Bus

Clairy Browne & the Bangin’ Racketts

Shock Entertainment

November 18, 2011

A little bit Ravonettes and the Kills, and a lot of the blues, Clairy Browne delivers an album that is sure to get you up and moving.  It is clear with every note that passes through her lips that she knows, understands, and feels the blues- and she is going to make us understand if it is the last thing she does.  Her voice is one that conveys fragility, wrapped in a blanket of strength.  By the end, you will feel like you have been put through an emotional wringer.  And then you will hit the repeat button, because it is so worth it.
