The Incredibly Awesome Adventures of Puggie Liddell: Telsa Time, Vol.1

by Karen Mueller Bryson

Zeta Comics

Publication Date:  June 21, 2011

Puggie Liddell is an unpopular 12-year-old  genius, and his sister, Gigi is the exact opposite.  So, when one of Puggie’s experiments accidently sends them both back in time, they must quickly learn to put their differences aside and work together to get back to their time.  Along the way, Puggie and Gigi meet many historical figures.  Most notably, rivals Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla, who are both working to create a machine that could destroy the future as we know it.

When they discover that the sibling duo may have the technology necessary, the race is on.  Puggie and Gigi must find a way back to their time before Edison or Tesla destroy it all.  With Puggie’s historical and scientific knowledge, and Gigi’s savvy social skills, they manage to outwit and outrun all those bent on stopping them- but will it be in time?

The Incredibly Awesome Adventures of Puggie Liddell is a great start to a hopeful series of time-travel books for children.  At times, it may remind one of Bill & Ted’s adventures, but this duo is not quite as clueless about history.  A bit more character development needs to be done in future installments, but Tesla Time, Vol. 1 does leave one waiting for their next adventure.
