Missing the Marc

I have never been a fan of Marc Jacobs‘ ads, but in 2011 he seems to have forgotten what it is he is selling. Well, at least, I can’t quite tell what it is by his ads. His love affair with the Fanning girls has been widely covered, but it seems he may be focusing more on who is in the ad, than what he he attempting to sell.

In recent ad campaigns, he has featured Victoria Beckham, Helena Bonham Carter, and Bjork, as well as his child-like Fanning muses, Elle and Dakota. However, the lack of acknowledging that these women are actually people, and not dolls or body parts, seems to be Jacobs’ downfall.

The rest need not be said. These might speak a thousand words- I’m just not sure I want to know them.
